The core work of Kratis comprises of training and consulting services mainly in the areas of Aviation, Safety and Human Factors.
These services are offered either by Kratis personnel, Kratis Associates or in conjunction with the organizations that Kratis collaborates with such as the Trinity College (University of Dublin) and JAA Training Organization.

We strongly believe in the importance of making the training effective for the organisation and therefore in the need for customising it to its needs. For this reason, before the training, we usually perform a "Training Needs Analysis", a "Gap Analysis", "Organisation/Safety Culture Survey" etc.
Kratis collaborates, amongst others, with:
  • Trinity College (University of Dublin) in providing services and training to civil aviation authorities, airlines and other aviation organisations. Trinity College has been actively coordinating and running various EU funded aviation research projects as well as providing consultancy services in aviation safety and human factors for a number of years.
  • JAA Training Organisation in developing and delivering training programs to Aviation Authority personnel as well as aviation industry personnel. JAA offers a great variety of training programs that meet several needs of aviation.

Some examples of relevant and recent activities of Kratis include:
  • Trained over 600 personnel of Hermes Airports on Airside Safety/Driving and Dangerous Goods
  • Performed a Training Needs Analysis and studies and developed reports for Cathay Pacific Airways and Etihad Airways
  • Contract to train over 800 personnel of Etihad Airways on Safety and Human Factors.
  • Training and Certifying, on behalf of the University of Dublin, a great number of trainers from around the world on training delivery, development, organisation etc
  • Participating in European Human Factors Advisory Group and other Safety Commitees at EASA, Cologne.
  • Delivering training for the JAA on Human Factors (HF), Safety Management Systems (SMS) for Aerodromes and Airside Safety.
  • For two consecutive years delivered a presentation to the FAA Annual Conference on HF in Maintenance and Ramp.
  • Developed and delivered a range of training programs in safety and human factors to civil aviation authority personnel, air traffic controllers, airline managers, trainers, flight crew, cabin crew, inspectors, engineers etc.
  • Participating in EU Commission-funded research projects on human factors
  • Addressed several International and European aviation forums
  • Attended several training programs in various countries on safety and human factors

Kratis Managing Director, Vangelis Demosthenous,worked for several years as a supervisor and a licensed aircraft engineer for Cyprus Airways. For the last twelve years he developed an activity in safety and human factors. Some of his qualifications/achievements are the following:
  • He holds an MSc in Safety Management and Human Factors from the Middlesex University, London.
  • He has been an active member of the JAA/EASA Human Factors Steering Group for the last 10 years, whereas for the last four years he has been chairing the Maintenance Focus Group. He worked for the development of the current European regulatory requirements on human factors.
  • He developed and delivered a range of training programs in safety and human factors to civil aviation authority personnel, air traffic controllers, airline managers, trainers, flight crew, cabin crew, inspectors, engineers etc.
  • He develops and delivers training programs in partnership with Trinity College - University of Dublin
  • He develops and delivers training programs in partnership with the JAA Training Organisation in the Netherlands.
  • He participated in European research projects on human factors (such as the STAMP project - Specialised Training for Aviation Maintenance Professionals).
  • He addressed several International and European aviation forums.
  • He attended several training programs in various countries in safety and human factors
  • He is a certified human factors and safety instructor from IATA, Transport Canada, Trinity College.
  • He is a Certified Safety Program Manager from US Department of Transport
  • He is certified to deliver the ICAO Safety Management Systems course
Kratis the Philosopher

Kratis was a cynical Greek philosopher and the most important student of the famous philosopher Diogenes. He was born around 330 B.C in Thebes, a city northwest of Athens.
